This week, the web design team at CodeWebBarcelona is shining a spotlight on a truly unique creator—someone whose art transforms the very streets that French citizens walk every day.
That person is none other than Patrick Commecy, a muralist whose passion lies in painting. Together with his team, he breathes new life into neglected and abandoned building facades across France, turning them into stunning murals that redefine the concept of exterior decoration.
His mission is clear: to take an ordinary, monochrome wall and turn it into a vibrant, lively scene bursting with color and activity. Often, these murals feature famous and influential figures from the local community, making each piece deeply connected to its surroundings.
It’s a breathtaking display of creativity—grand in scale and overflowing with positivity.
Every detail—the colors, the scenes, the characters—is carefully chosen, always considering the unique character of each building and its environment.
Commecy’s work is a brilliant example of trompe-l’oeil, the art of optical illusion that tricks the eye into seeing something that isn’t really there.

As you can see for yourself, Patrick Commecy and his team of muralists think big—their creations are masterpieces that people in France are lucky enough to experience firsthand.
Here at our web design studio in Barcelona, we’ve spent the whole week imagining how incredible it would be to have an artist like Patrick bring his magic to our city. Even though our own studio doesn’t have the kind of facade that lends itself to such transformation, we can’t help but dream about what it would be like if Patrick painted our building.
Of course, that would mean moving to a studio with the right kind of exterior—but we can dream!
To give you a better sense of Patrick’s work, here are a few more examples of facades touched by his artistry. Judge for yourself—the before and after is truly spectacular. We’re sure that after reading this post, you’ll want to spend some time discovering more about this remarkable artist.

And with that, we invite you to dive into the wonderful world of art—in all its forms and expressions: web design, graphic design, illustration, painting, and more.
