We’re launching a new article format on the Code Barcelona blog: interviews with graphic design studios and creatives who have stood out for projects that deserve recognition for their creativity and originality.
This time, we visited our friends at Bulldog Studio and their bossman Carles Sala to talk about the packaging project for Maset Plana.
I’m good, thanks!
I’m from Barcelona. I’m not a millennial or Gen Z or anything—I was born in December ‘79, so I’m in a bit of an identity limbo. That meant I just missed military service, caught the education reform, and did the new ESO system. Like most 13-year-olds, I had no idea what I wanted to be, so I tried a few things before landing in graphic design. I studied architecture and drafting, but thanks to a friend and my then-girlfriend, I was encouraged to give design a shot.
It all followed a pretty logical path: study, internships, studio work, agencies, big companies—then you realize you want to do something for yourself. I worked at advertising agencies, McCann, a print shop (which, by the way, taught me a ton), and more.
And Bulldog? Well, I had an English Bulldog and needed a name for the studio, so I didn’t think twice 😉
Maset Plana is a small winery in Empordà. They never really had a clear identity—they used to sell a bit of everything to everyone (in bulk). Julià, the heir, decided to focus on quality over quantity.
It was obvious they needed a strong identity and an upgrade for their portfolio, so we created Pere de Novas, their flagship wine. It’s a Monastrell, typical of the region, and a sweet wine—perfect for sunsets and long after-dinner conversations.

The creative process was tough—we had very little time, a tight deadline, and a big project ahead. Custom bottle, screen printing on glass, labels… plus coordinating suppliers and schedules.
We usually work with a particular printer, but this time we couldn’t, because the front label has a label-on-label effect—something very rare and highly technical. So we teamed up with Rotas, who know exactly how to handle this.
The rest? Natural cotton pulp paper, minimal ink, lots of finishing touches and… et voilà!
We specialize in packaging and branding. We take on any graphic design project (CMYK Lovers), and yes, we’ve been doing really well in wine—but also in gourmet and FMCG projects in general.
