If you’re passionate about packaging design, you’re going to love this article. This week, I’m sharing our personal selection as we search for the best alcoholic beverage packaging design.
We’ll take a look at 7 of the top packaging design references right now—some of them have won multiple design and creativity awards. Each one is perfect for sparking your inspiration and for enjoying a deep dive into the design and packaging that make these products stand out.
We’ll mostly focus on spirits and wine, as these are the categories where packaging design truly shines.
Let’s begin our search for the best alcoholic beverage packaging design.

Graphic design, packaging, and bottle design by Omdesign
To mark the 600th anniversary of Madeira’s discovery, Omdesign was tasked with the brand design for Blandy’s wine. The result is a truly stunning bottle design, label design, and packaging box.
This project stands out for its complexity and premium finishes. Every element is perfectly balanced, creating a strong and elegant visual identity.
If you look closely, the design is clearly inspired by Portuguese navigators from the era around 1418.
The bottle’s cap design features intricate embossed details depicting navigators, finished in silver, forming the upper part of the bottle design and topped with a matching stopper styled like a period seal.
The wine is presented in exceptionally high-quality packaging: a dark wooden chest lined with suede and secured with a key.
Wouldn’t you agree this is one of the best packaging designs you’ve ever seen?

Packaging and brand identity design by Brandnew
Another standout packaging design that’s caught our eye recently is the branding for Shivoo cocktails—Shivoo being Australian slang for “party.”
Aiming to break away from the traditional, classic image of cocktails, Shivoo commissioned a fresh concept and branding from the creative team at Brandnew.
The result is a brand identity and packaging that’s modern and energetic. The goal: to appeal to a broad audience and challenge the old-fashioned, elegant stereotypes often associated with cocktails.
The design stands out for its approachable, functional, and dynamic packaging, with color coding to distinguish the different cocktail varieties in the Shivoo range.
The choice of bottle is particularly interesting—minimalist and reminiscent of vintage 19th-century apothecary bottles.

Packaging design by Rita Rivotti Studio
To celebrate 50 years of the Porto 1969 brand, we’re treated to a special edition design with truly remarkable packaging.
This brand has a long-standing tradition in producing port wine—renowned for its quality and especially beloved in Portugal, its country of origin.
The bottle design is unique and rarely seen, with a distinctive shape that feels both traditional and modern.
The label design features gold and silver detailing, with a hand-crafted look and vintage-style information display.
The bottle is topped with a large silver stopper, featuring gold embossed lettering.
As if that weren’t enough, the port wine bottle is presented in a wooden box with a custom die-cut lid bearing the brand name. The choice of wood and the interior finishes reflect the care and appreciation the producers have for their wine and this special anniversary.

Now let’s take a closer look at the bottle and packaging design for the Perfeccionista limited edition premium wine.
This design features an innovative touch—a piece of wood taken directly from the box that houses the bottle.
It’s an elegant, minimalist design with a perfectly chosen bottle. Strong, organic elements like wood and rope are used. The bottle is presented in a simple, warehouse-style wooden box.
It’s a fascinating design that I encourage you to analyze and compare with the others we’ve seen so far, as it brings many unique elements that reflect the passion and care behind the project.
