This week, we’re taking a look at three outstanding packaging design projects for the food industry.
Hopefully, you’ve already eaten—otherwise, you might find yourself getting hungry. But fair warning: this week’s article is so innovative, that’s unlikely to happen.
More likely, you’ll be blown away by the burst of creativity and innovation we’re about to explore.
As always, I’ll use these projects as a springboard to discuss their creative process and share some practical tips for crafting these gems of design and creativity.

UNICALORIE is a company that creates scientifically formulated gelatin snacks based on the concept of “pocket health”—essentially, health on the go. As if that weren’t enough, each flavor is packed with a wide variety of nutrients.
This innovative idea aims to address a very real need: people who spend long hours away from home and are forced either 1) to eat out, often losing control over what they consume, or 2) to carry their own food from home. Neither option is ideal for many reasons, so UNICALORIE has cleverly identified the problem and offers a smart solution.
Their answer? Design, produce, and distribute convenient, on-the-go food.
Tips for Packaging Design in the Cosmetics Sector
Food packaging is a vast field, with fierce competition and consumers who are constantly bombarded with choices. The first rule when creating packaging for food products: be innovative.
Innovation is key in the conceptualization and development of food packaging. But be careful—not to go overboard. If you do, you risk ending up with something too extravagant or impractical, and consumers may pass you by.
Winning a packaging design award is one thing; having a product that sells is quite another.
So, the first tip is twofold: be innovative, but always stay true to the brand and the product.
Interesting Details from the Cosmetics Packaging Project
The product’s flap features a U-shaped cutout at the top front, making it easy to access the contents without fussing with the box. The flap itself echoes the company’s logo.
Inside, the box holds sachets that can be consumed directly from the inner packaging, reminiscent of how some medications are presented—or even scenes from astronaut movies.
This project has received the following awards:
Our sincere congratulations to the graphic design studio L3 Branding for this packaging design for the cosmetics sector.
