This week, we’re dedicating our featured project space to a standout example of new technology: the design of Grohe’s mobile app.
Our featured project is the design and development of the GROHE mobile application.
As part of GROHE’s initiative to launch a new website, the brand also set out to develop a mobile app that would allow users to control all their smart home products.
The goal was to deliver a unique experience tailored to each of their product lines.
To achieve this, it was essential for the interface design to be minimalist, modern, and fresh.
Other similar products on the market offer this kind of communication with end users, so expectations were high for a brand with GROHE’s reputation.
The design is intentionally minimalist, using just two font weights and streamlining all content within the app to significantly enhance the user experience.
GROHE has shifted its focus from product-centric branding to prioritizing the user experience—a positive move, especially as customer engagement becomes increasingly important and users are less willing to be overwhelmed by sales tactics.
With this app, users can intelligently manage all their home services from their mobile device and receive notifications. They can monitor and track water usage in a single app, reduce water consumption, and protect their homes from water damage.
It’s a first step toward integrating new technologies more deeply into our daily lives.

The app was developed by Grohe’s in-house design team—a group of top professionals who know the product inside out.
It’s no surprise that this project received two Indigo Awards:
Mobile Design of the Year 2019 and Gold in Apps 2019.

Personally, I find this project fascinating. We need to get used to new technologies becoming part of every aspect of our lives.
It won’t be long before we can control all our assets and services from the palm of our hand—without needing to be physically present for most of the things we currently interact with.
