To wrap up this week’s series of posts, I’m excited to share a fascinating course: Sketchbook Portraits: Exploring the Human Face.
In this course, your instructor will guide you from the fundamentals of portrait drawing to adding those all-important finishing details.
You’ll learn about proportion and structure, and how to capture facial features across three different portrait styles. Once you’ve mastered the essence of each face, your artwork will truly reflect your unique artistic vision.
Practicing in a sketchbook is a great way to develop and refine your skills, and it also lets you track your progress over time. For artist Gabriela Niko, portraiture is a powerful form of self-expression that naturally draws the viewer’s attention.
Learning to draw portraits can seem daunting due to the sheer variety of facial features—no two faces are ever the same.
Discover the basics of portraiture, learn to draw facial features, and track your artistic growth in your sketchbook.
All Domestika courses are designed to combine theory and hands-on practice.
In this course project, you’ll draw three portraits (profile, three-quarter view, and front view) using the core principles of portrait drawing.
No prior experience is needed.
All you need is a pencil, a sketchbook, and access to the Snapseed app (or a similar one) to digitally edit your drawings.
The Life Writing for Beginners: Tell Your Own Story course is carefully structured to blend theory and practice. Here’s how the course is organized:
U1: Introduction
U2: The Basics of Drawing a Face
U3: Main Project
U4: Documenting Your Work
Final Project
